MSA-Five is a modular platform for laser welding cylindrical, prismatic, and pouch cells. By integrating a robot with a 20 µm fiber laser with up to 2 kW of power, the system can be adapted to a variety of cells and connections for the production of battery modules. Productivity is further optimized by incorporating a conveyor belt that allows for side loading and unloading of the modules, simplifying the preparation process. It also features a fast battery extraction cycle to reduce handling risks during battery management.
With the MSA-Five series, various types of modules can be welded, which also allows for post-processing if required for small series or prototypes. The digital twin of the machine enables efficient machine usage by allowing recipes to be prepared "off-line" on a computer, thereby reducing changeover times for batches or models.
